Stage II: The Aeolian Silence

Chapter II: JI (EARTH)

"In the absolute stillness, a primordial wind carves the cooling crust, depositing shifting layers of celestial dust that shimmer like gold in the fleeting light."

To capture the profound cooling of the early planetary crust, Habenhaus orchestrates a sacred 24-Hour Cellular Hydration Ritual, layering distinct temporal epochs upon the canvas. The foundation preserves a deeply submerged stratum of pale, gessoed Hanji waves—representing the volatile, early atmosphere settling into form. Overlaid upon this ancient memory, carefully selected unbleached raw mulberry Hanji (미표백 운용지)—retaining the visible natural bark of the tree—is hand-sculpted into far more massive, heavy-volume waves that sweep diagonally across the topography. Crucially, this towering upper paper terrain completely eschews artificial acrylic pigments, naturally curing with Lineco archival adhesive into a dark, raw earth umber.

To temper the stark dominance of these heavy soil ridges, the artist has meticulously over-grafted fine vermiculite mineral fragments across the dark crests. Hovering over this textured landscape like a phantom mist is a delicate infusion of Ghost Gold Mica Powder—an ephemeral, angle-dependent mineral dust that remains nearly invisible in the shadows but erupts into a subtle, warm golden shimmer when kissed by shifting ambient light, capturing the phantom tracks of the primordial wind.

Stage II captures the transition from chaos to stillness—'The Aeolian Silence.' Highlighting the peaks of this stratified paper terrain are delicate, textured veins of Oxidized Copper Leaf, replacing the artificial brilliance of new metal with the weathered, solemn patina of ancient mineral currents. Deeply anchored at the lower boundaries of this sweeping topography are massive, raw Tiger's Eye minerals, bound securely by structured waxed threads like ancient anchors holding the restless crust in place. Concealed within the rich topography lies a single Swarovski crystal—the Quantum Observer—whose silent gaze collapses the cosmic wave of probability into this heavy, stratified terrestrial reality.

Dimensional Detail

Dimensional Detail: A highly tactile, stratified three-dimensional topography defined by heavy, wind-swept ridges that organically merge into the surrounding earth. The composition reveals a profound depth of creation: peeking beneath the thick, sweeping dunes are the subtle, pale-gessoed ridges of the earlier foundational Hanji crust. Overlying this base is a massive, heavy-volume wave formation sculpted from unbleached raw mulberry Hanji, naturally cured into a dense, pigment-free dark earth tone. To prevent these dark soil-colored ridges from creating harsh lines, the artist has over-grafted raw vermiculite mineral fragments along their crests, while infusing the surface with shifting Ghost Gold Mica Powder. This creates an ethereal, angle-dependent shimmer that traces the path of a primordial wind across the 1,000°C pre-baked vermiculite bedrock. Edged with the weathered patina of oxidized copper leaf and anchored dynamically at the base by raw Tiger's Eye stones wrapped in waxed threads, the high-relief composition captures the sheer weight and hidden magic of a planet settling into eternal stillness.
