PAVILION II : THE CHEON-JI-IN TRILOGY‍ ‍
The Sacred Cosmic Trilogy Series

Stage III:
The Abyssal Pulse

Chapter II: JI (EARTH)

To integrate these towering, soil-colored mounds into the surrounding terrain, the artist has over-grafted raw vermiculite mineral fragments along their flanks, softening the borders of the heavy relief. Defining the outer perimeter of this volcanic canyon is a dramatic, hand-applied outline of Midnight Black Gesso—a scorched, dark halo representing the intense geothermal heat of a tearing continent.

Stage III represents the structural climax of Chapter II: EARTH (JI)—'The Abyssal Pulse.' Inside this deep, black-gessoed volcanic rift, the mineral composition has undergone a profound alchemical transformation. A massive, newly added Raw Green Fluorite stone emerges alongside peach moonstones and black aqua quartz points. Crucially, every single mineral within this abyss has been purposefully veiled in midnight black gesso—shrouding the crystals in a dark, matte mantle of volcanic soot while allowing their heavy raw shapes to project pure form. This blackened mineral assembly rests atop a bed of shattered cobalt blue sea glass shards, glowing from the depths like a frozen subterranean river. Highlighting the crests of the massive paper ridges are weathered veins of Oxidized Copper Leaf, capturing the conductive, ancient warmth of a cooling planet. Concealed precisely within this rich, layered matrix lies a single Swarovski crystal—the Quantum Observer—whose silent gaze collapses the cosmic wave of probability into this heavy, stratified terrestrial reality.

Dimensional Detail

Dimensional Detail: A highly dramatic, deep-profile three-dimensional topography centered around a scarred, diagonal volcanic rift. The composition reveals a profound depth of creation: peeking beneath the towering, heavy-volume protective Hanji ridges are the distinct, dual-toned acrylic layers of earlier and later paper formations, creating a tangible timeline of physical stratification. These massive soil-colored ridges, heavily dusted with over-grafted vermiculite fragments to blend into the 1,000°C baked bedrock, are framed by a prominent, scorched border of midnight black gesso that outlines the canyon. Within the deep abyss, a massive raw green fluorite raw stone, peach moonstones, and aqua quartz crystals—all hand-coated in matte black gesso to look like soot-covered volcanic minerals—project a heavy, obsidian-like physical presence. Resting upon a bed of shattered cobalt blue sea glass and edged with the weathered patina of oxidized copper leaf along the paper crests, the high-relief composition achieves a raw, explosive material tension, preserved alongside a single, hidden clear Swarovski element within the wood-tone shadowbox

"Within the scorched fracture of the silent earth, the primal abyss heaves, cloaking its newly born mineral treasures in the dark volcanic ash of genesis."

To capture the violent, internal alchemy of the early earth, Habenhaus orchestrates a sacred 24-Hour Cellular Hydration Ritual, freezing a dramatic tectonic rupture within the canvas. The paper topography is a masterpiece of physical accumulation: rather than destroying the earlier foundations, the artist has layered new acrylic-infused Hanji directly over the prior base. This creates a striking Dual-Toned Hanji Stratification, exposing two distinct colored epochs of terrestrial history. The newly added upper Hanji layers are hand-sculpted into far more massive, heavy-volume protective ridges that guard the central wound.
