Habenhaus is a private maison based in California, born from a profound intersection where ancient Eastern philosophy meets the vanguard of modern quantum mechanics. We operate under a single, dominant truth: consciousness exists prior to reality itself. Just as quantum fields materialize into physical form only through the act of conscious observation, our creations capture the raw, tactile energy that occupied the cosmic void before names were given. We do not merely respond to the physical world; we sculpt the very moment consciousness collapses into reality.

Led by the artist Qualia—a name chosen from the philosophical and quantum understanding of the subjective, untranslatable quality of conscious experience—the maison bridges deep spiritual heritage with scientific wonder. Founded upon a lifelong devotion to visual and philosophical mastery, the artist spent over thirty years navigating the precision of visual form as a master designer, only to return to the primal origins of existence. Under the California sun, each masterwork begins with the exact same inkstone, brush, and traditional ink cherished since childhood—carried carefully across the Pacific in a suitcase from Korea.

However, the artist’s material vocabulary expands far beyond tradition, evolving into a masterful alchemy of textures. Alongside Hanji—a paper fragile yet enduring for a thousand years, crafted entirely by human hands—the artist weaves a universe of diverse elements. By laying foundations of 1,000°C baked vermiculite and raw natural stones, embedding a shimmering galaxy of multi-chroma Swarovski crystals, and dynamically raising raw paper fibers into the open air, the invisible quantum field is translated into a living, tactile ecosystem. Finally, whether left uncovered to interact directly with shifting light, or permanently encapsulated within pristine, airtight custom housings meticulously sealed with micro-precision structural lines, these delicate cosmic moments transform into a timeless reliquary of absolute silence.

We reject the cold detachment of factory mass production to protect the sanctity of the material and the absolute truth of the human touch. THE MEDIUM: SCULPTURAL HANJI & ARCHIVAL CRAFT

At the core of Habenhaus lies Hanji—traditional Korean mulberry paper revered for over a thousand years of museum-grade archival permanence. Beyond serving as a flat surface, our Hanji is an organic, three-dimensional sculptural medium, meticulously wet-formed, layered, and sculpted to capture the subtle interplay of light, shadow, and time.

Pavilion 1: Persona (Raw Sculptural Canvas)

Constructed on a 48x48 wood frame using water-soaked Hanji wet-formed with Lineco archival binding over a full week of drying. Finished without acrylic covers (Raw Finish), exposing the raw, tactile organic fibers to the open space.

Pavilion 2: Cheon-Ji-In (Cosmic Shadow Box)

A contemporary shadow-box interpretation of Eastern cosmology set against a 1,000°C baked mineral vermiculite foundation. Sculpted Hanji forms embody the three cosmic elements: Heaven (Black), Earth (Light Brown), and Man (White).

Pavilion 3: Art Capsule (The Encapsulated Relic)

Immersed in pure black ink ground from our 46-year heritage inkstone, hand-sculpted Hanji conscious forms are permanently encapsulated inside 30mm high-optical monolithic acrylic—freezing a half-century of artist ritual into a timeless physical relic.
